I'm Sam, a speech pathologist from New Jersey and a mom of three little ones. I created the Toddler Talking Toolkit because I believe that parents can make a huge impact in their toddler's communication skills when they have the right tools.
Ten years as a speech pathologist- attending elite universities and working at prestigious therapy centers- taught me tons about communication.
But it wasn't until I became a mother that I truly understood how unique every child and family is.
I saw that a child's parent, and the action they took, was the most important factor in determining how fast that child would reach their full talking potential.
It’s my mission to get that knowledge into the hands of as many parents as possible.

YES! But here are the facts - 25% of late talkers will not catch up by kindergarten! Of the 75% who do catch up, many will continue to have difficulty with speaking and social skills and will require skilled intervention. That’s why I always encourage parents of late talkers to seek an evaluation with a speech pathologist. Here is the good news, though! Research shows that in almost every case, children always learn better from their own parents. By being proactive right now with your child’s speech and language skills, you will be giving them the best possible chance to thrive and excel in communicating, making friends, and school.
